RTE 4th October 2008
Goreyskateclub were invited to record a new game show for the autumn season on RTÉ TWO. Broadcast on Sunday 12th October AT 10am
"T.O.A.S.T. is a brand new game show for the autumn on RTÉ TWO. It involved pitting 2 teams of 3 against one another in a series of games that test you both physically and mentally with a big emphasis on fun throughout. The teams will compete under a banner which highlights an activity that they all take part in on a regular basis, so it could be …….GOSPEL v DRUMMERS, HOCKEY V HURLING, CIRCUS V GYMNAST…..EVEN KNITTERS VERSUS BAKERS!!! The team members are aged between 10-14 and each have an audience of supporters that get involved in the games."
We travelled to RTÉ studios on the 4th, Billy Sheehan, local bus service brought us to Dublin and back. Unfortunately, we did not win, but a lot of fun was had by all. The shows can now be seen online of the RTE website.
Tune into RTÉ TWO on Sunday mornings at 10am to catch the new show weekly.
Sk8 Skool

Run all summer was the new Sk8 Skool. This was for either beginners wanting to learn to skate and skaters wanting to improve their skills on a skateboard. The Sk8 Skool was run over the summer months and had everything from advice, tricks + tips, maintenance for your board, mini competitions and a chance to make some new friends too.
The summer sk8 Skool was open to everyone. Summer months

The Summer Sk8 Skool which is being run by Goreyskateclub is funded by the Wexford Local Sports Partnership. We would like to thank again the Community and Enterprise Department in the Wexford Co. Council for their help. This project is a first for us, so some details may change, but hopefully not too many. We thanks you for your cooperation, patience and understanding. The new fence is installed. The council has had the old fencing that got damaged removed and a new stronger (much stronger) fence put in its place. A lot of us are worried about it as it is very strong and not very forgiving so please be more careful when skating. We met with the Town manager and the engineer and we all came to the same conclusion. The main problem is - the lack of proper run off or roll off space inside the skatepark. A design fault right from the start.
The only way this issue will get sorted out once and for all now is if we fundraise to get the whole skatepark extended and include the fencing as part of the budget. The council have made it clear they cannot give the skatepark any more funding but will help us get funding elsewhere. Help we will gladly take!!!
