We recieved a cheque for €1000 from the Community and Entreprise. Not 2 days alter, we got a letter from the VEC and were approved for a cheque to the amount of €159.11. Deadly. Recieving all this money really helped keep us positive and never loose sight of the main goal, to get a proper skatepark in Gorey.
SeptemberThe VEC were accepting application for their sports grant scheme.
MayApplications were aagin out for the local sports and amenity grants scheme through the Gorey Town Council. We would however not be successful this time around. We applied to the Community and enterprise for their sports grant scheme.
AprilWe had been working on a new proposal which we would present to the Gorey Electoral Area Committee on the 23rd being introduced by Michael Darcy. The deputation was very short. We got 15 minutes to put accross our case for a skatepark. To summarise, we spoke about Goreyskateclub and its role in the Gorey Community. The need for such a facility, the market support, the local and residential impacts of skateparks in towns and cities, site locations and recommendations and the forming of a partnership between the Club and the Co. Council.
MarchThe newspaper cutout of a meeting held to promote the club. We had over 40 skaters and about 10 parents show up. Pretty impressive. It gave us a boost to keep at the skatepark proposal. We had one done years ago so we went back and updated it. This was the proposal that would be later presented to the Wexford County Council in June 2005.
